Hi, I'm trying to work out how to assign a couple of commands when an input is sensed on the RFX9600 power sense inputs..

Basically, what i'd like is when the Doorbell on the house is pressed, it outputs 12v to power sense input 1 for the duration of the doorbell press.

When it senses this input voltage, (If possible) I want the TSU9600 remote to automatically change to a page which might say something like "Change TV channel to see who's at the door?" and then when you press the "Yes" button, i control my video matrixes to switch over the video input signal to the CCTV camera on the door.

Alternatively, as I'm dubious as to whether the above can be done, I just simply want to send the video matrix change commands whenever the doorbell rings, no matter what screen the TSU9600 is on.

Thanks in advance...

Ian.

You cant do this with a RFX9600. You will have to wait for the CRX9800 control processor to handle outside triggers like you mention.

Can I not use prontoscript to listen to the input sensing ports then jump and execute a page?

Ian Bethell,

This is a messy function to develop and it will never be bomb proof. You'll need to include your doorbell routine in all activities. Study section A.8.2. in the development guide. If the remote is sleeping when the doorbell rings, it will miss the ring.

Since this sort of activity cannot be bomb proof, I would personally not attempt develop the automatic function. Look up "latching relay" on the net. If you latched a relay when the doorbell rings, you will not miss the first in a series of rings, but you may not know when they occurred. You may not know if there were multiple rings. A relay contact on the RFX9600 would reset the latch. If you latched and monitored the doorbell on an input port, you would have more information to work with.

Cheers Buzz,

I can latch the ring, then de-latch it after a given time, say two minutes... i'm assuming the pronto wakes up slightly every 47 seconds to keep the wifi going, but in the majority of my case, the TSU will be docked most of the time.

So I have to put the prontoscript in every activity? can I not just have it in the home activity, and ensure that the pronto returns home after a set time to keep it there.?

Ian Bethell,

If you want a window to pop up, the doorbell monitoring script must be running in the current activity. Certainly, you could always return to the Home activity after starting each device, but I would not find this very convenient. For example, if I am watching TV, I would want to stay in the Cable activity (or DVD, or whatever), and not need to return to the Home activity after changing a channel -- just in case the doorbell rang.

As you change activities, only the system global variables survive.

I have a library of "boilerplate" functions that are included in all activities. This is more mess than I like, but I can sweep many little annoyances under the carpet.

I did something almost identical to this for a gentleman in Italy (paid job). You can do all that you want but I highly recommend that you keep the remote docked if you are going to do this as if remote is asleep, it will not get the notifications you desire.

You must also add script to each activity in which you want this active..

Per all the public hoopla, the TSX9500 will be the last unless someone else takes over and purchases the hardware rights as well. I don't have any information that contradicts what I've seen online.
