I'm trying to use an RFX9600 relay with an APC S-15. It claims to have relay support for 2 outputs that are on a delay, but they just seem to have a time setting so I don't see how the relay from the RFX9600 would work. Ive never used the relay outputs on the RFX9600, so I'm a little confused.

Would the relay be closed normally with the S-15 firmware controlling a short open time, but when there is a relay input, the relay is open until the RFX9600 completes the circuit? Thus, by plugging in the circuit, the relay will remain open until the RFX9600 sets it?

I need a relay 101 faq because there is no way that is correct. There are two outputs on relays and only one relay input...

Durrrr...

Thanks,
Mark

You can use the DC output of the RFX9600 and switch it through a relay on the RFX9600 to (with a jack cable) the APC S-15 to use it as a trigger. The APC needs dc current, not just a shortened circuit.

So 5v from RFX9600 dc output on the jack. GND from RFX9600 dc output to on side of the RFX9600 relay and the other side of the relay to the other cable to the jack.

Then if the the relay is closed the APC see's current and if it's open it has no current on the trigger.
