Ever since the december 2009 firmware update (RFX9600, TSU9600), my TSU9600's screen turns on frequently without any reason.

I think I read about simular experiences from other user on this forum, but cannot find the topics anymore.

Anyhow. Even with the latest (september) firmwares this problem still remains. Did anybody find out how to resolve this ?

I am suspecting the rotary wheel to be the cause. Can it be turned of ?

This can indeed be the rotary, and no this cannot be turned off.

Another cause is the tilt sensor, but this one can be turned off.

Yet another possible wake-up reason is battery charge status: the Pronto will wake up whenever it starts or stops charging. This is the case for all current publicly available firmware releases.

I've experienced this issue with what would appear to be wifi signal drop. Could it be related to this as well?

Tilt sensor is turned off. And I only charge the battery at night (clock controlled so the base unit light does not disturbes my dark HT).

Wifi signal drop could be a cause (DIR 655 router is problematic for ProntoPro I understood). Any way to test this ? (never had a Wifi problem with my laptop btw)

Mine will start the coming on by itself. My tilt is off No Wifi in use. What clears the problem for me is picking it up and shaking it.

I had this issue with my original TSU9600 which recently went on the fritz. The issue presented itself with every firmware version that has been released to date. I first reported this issue to the ProntoTeam during the beta testing period prior to the remote even being available for purchase. Another beta tester at the time reported the same issue. That being said, the thread found here details my experience per this issue and others, some of which have only experienced this issue on certain firmware versions.

Same problem. I found that rotating the wheel to get a click stops this errant behavior.

So, all you wheel rotators... Metal or Plastic scroll wheel?

Plastic for me. Stops light up if I move the ring just a small fraction without passing next click.

So no coding is possible to turn the wheel off ? I never use it anyway.

Same issue as well. Plastic wheel for me. Sometimes moving the scroll wheel a fraction one way or the other will stop this issue from occuring. Can't say that I have noticed whether the wifi signal has dropped... will keep an eye out for it.

Also, if I have commands associated with the scroll wheel, they are sometimes executed. I could be wathcing a DVD and then all of a sudden the movie starts to fast forward. As a result, I have since removed any commands from the scroll wheel.

Plastic wheel. I use for dimming/brightening lights so a single click is not critical. Don't know about wifi connection. I have removed indicator from the display.

You may see this in the thread mentioned by Lowpro. My solution was to downgrade the firmware and I have not had the problem since then.

I occasionally have this same problem, which only gets resolved by moving the click wheel. It's the older plastic wheel.
