Hi guys,
Ummmm.. Finally after many good years with my Tsu2000, it’s finally dying :(
My question is which remote would react the same way as the 2000.
I have another room where I have the Tsu9400 set up, but the room I need a replacement for only has 3D TV, denon receiver, Blu-Ray and cable box. I like that the fact, once programmed, the 2000 and 9400 you are able to set it up so all you have to do is push “watch Tv” and all the components switch on to the correct inputs and it jumps to the cable to switch channels etc. And of course “all off “
Does the 9200 do that as well? There a $200 difference between the 2 and I’m not sure if I need to spend the extra for only 4 components.
What is the real difference between the 92 and 93 aside from software being either pronto edit or the configuratior . what are the limits and restrictions between the 2 ?
Thank you in advance :)

dezigner98,

I think that the TSU9200 is targeted at the DIY's, trying to compete with the Harmony type of device.

After customizing a TSU2000, I think that you will feel that TSU9200's program-ability is limited. The screens are what they are, you can't move things around.

Conceptually, you could transfer your TSU2000 program to a TSU9300, but I think that it will be more work than you'd like. At the very least, you'll want to redo all of the TSU2000 artwork. If you are changing most of the devices that were programmed into the TSU2000, there is not much point in trying to salvage anything.

I've been programming Pronto's since the TSU1000. The curent programming environment is different, but you'll recognize most of it. The major difference for you will be that IR commands are not learned or stored at the button level, they are learned and stored in a database. For someone who programs a single remote or wants to bring an older program across to the new environment, this change might annoying, but I find that it is a better way to go because I program lots of customer units.

In my opinion, the TSU9200 does not belong in this series. The 9200 model number and similar styling are confusing for users like yourself who view it as a low end 9300 or 9400. For both the user and the programmer, the TSU9200 is very different. The TSU9200 is similar in functionality to the legion of remotes with a few buttons around the edge of a screen.

The TSU9200 certainly capable of controlling your system, but it will be using the standard program with the blanks filled in. There is very little room for your own creativity. If you read the documentation closely enough, you'll learn that you can add or change channel icons. Other than this, your creativity is limited to changing the order of things in a list and building macro commands.

any idea on what im doing wrong?
the data base that i have is for the scientific atlanta-cable STB-Explorer 8300HD. because i cant find the correct data base for what i have which is scientific atlanta Explorer 4250 HDC. do you think that has anything to do with it?

dezigner98,

In my opinion, you have stepped in some dirty laundry about the database.

As you have noticed, there are a few model number specific command sets for a given manufacturer and, usually, a number of generic command sets. It is a little messy, but you must keep trying generic command sets and find the best fit. This is a little tedious because the command sets must first be added to myDatabse, then tested.

Once you have found the best fit, you can rename this command set, delete the other test cases, and custimize your renamed command set by deleting inappropriate commands and learning any missing commands.

Another approach is to search this site for command sets or try the [Link: onlyoneremote.com] database. Again, this is a fairly generic database for relatively current models.

TSU9300 as the 9200 really hasn't had any updates in years and the editor only works in XP.
