Good Morning,

I'm going to start building my Home system. Currenlty i started planning the Light Controls with Grafik Eye 3106 modules.

I would like to Interface the Grafik Eye Via RS232 using the Pronto Extender.

Could someone guide me from were should i start.

Have a look at Home works by Lutron instead, as there is a Pronto IP 2way script for this that works very well.

But the system is Grafik Eye 3106, would this be this same like the Home works?

Thanks

Not sure how you integrate Graffic eyes into homeworks you may have to do a bit of research.

yes you would need the RS232 interface , i use IR to control the one Graffic eye i have , even though its behind me the Pronto IR output is so strong it still controlls it. :)

The GRX-CI-RS232 is the RS-232 interface for the NTGRX-3108 and the GRX-IRI is the infrared interface.

The GRX-IRI is about half the price of the GRX-CI-RS232, provides a place for an infrared 'mouse' emitter on the front of it, and is meant to be hidden away in a wallbox somewhere. It provides full control of each zone independently as well as scene control. Although IR is generally less preferable than RS-232, it is my preferred choice with the Graphic Eye. All of the codes are readily available and it is simple to set up just like any other component on the Pronto.

The GRX-CI-RS232 provides some additional programming capabilities and RS-232 is inherently more reliable than IR. The codes are available in the manual that comes with the unit.

I have one way control via the RS232 interface with my grafic eye's. It's the only rs232 control I've managed to figure out so it must be quite easy...

Yes, just plan on getting the RS-232 interface for grafik eye. The homeworks is a ridiculously expensive system requiring full home run wiring from every light to a central panel in your home or basement. Probably not what you had in mind especially if you hear of the price.

Even the Lutron RS-232 interface for the grafik eye is rather expensive. As noted above the IR version is less expensive but the full RS-232 version does all of the right tricks for non-IR considerations.
