I just started a new project. The project has thin system bar (32 pixels) at the top of the screen. I noticed that the top edge of my system bar had disappeared.

After trying out a few test panels, I discovered that my actual viewing area was only 640 x 477.

A minor detail really, but I like using the 'golden rectangle' as the base for my graphics, using pixel sizes of 8,16,32,64,...... etc. I could adjust the graphics to suit and no-one would probably notice - except me!

In short, is there a way to make screen adjustments on a 9600?

Don't think so, display is physically limited to 640x480.

However, in the System Properties, you can adjust the "user" area and that control the area that scrolls on slide in animations.

I've got the 640 on the X, but only appear to get a maximum of 477 on the Y axis.

The animation mode setting wouldn't solve this problem.

You used the word sliding in you reply Lyndel, which made me think of a sliding panel. That sounds like an potential option for me - a hidden system bar???

No, Choose Page Animation in System Properties and you will see what I mean when you use Page+/- to change pages.

Lyndel, if you are referring to:

System Properties > Settings 2 > Other Settings > Animation Mode

This does nothing for me, either in Page, Activity or Full modes regardless of what I enter for X1,Y1 or X2,Y2 under layout.

I tried animation modes before and didn't (and still don't) see any result. I didn't find any info on using this feature and there is nothing in the PEP guide or PEP2 help.

Perhaps you, or someone, could point me to a XCF that makes use of the animation mode.

I think you should be able to use one of the Sample Files that are in the Pronto Project\TSU9600 or 9600 folder. These should have installed with PEPV2.

Tried out the demo 9600 that came with PEP2, both simulated and downloaded.

I still can't see any 'animation' or scroll effect. I'm not sure what I'm expecting to see from the animation mode.

From what I have read (and there is not much info available) animation mode is an effect used in transitions from page to page etc. I don't think this feature would help regain the missing 640x3 area at the top of the screen.

Just to be absolutely sure I opened up the 9600 to confirm the missing area. The top 3 pixels, if they exist, are hidden under the LCD surround. Will contact the Pronto Team to see if they can give me a quick fix.

Thanks for your patience, Lyndel.

Animation mode will not fix the issue. The only way to fix this issue might be to send in the unit for repair/swap.

This is odd that you have 3px missing, I've had more than 15 TSU9800 that went under my hands by now and every one had the full screen visible. So it might be a bad screen placement, but I doubt you can assemble the unit in a way it could make such a flaw.

Can you provide any of your XCF's so we can check if the problem lies elsewhere?

I quickly checked the xcf at home and I can't find any flaw so now I too suspect that you might gane a problem with the lcd mount.

Better not tweak it yourself, take it to your delaler and have it replaced, it should be done with no questions asked.

Hi BluPhenix

Will contact my dealer and see what they say.

After I sent you the XCF, I had another peek inside. The LCD is totally enclosed and is not a serviceable part, not for me at least.

Took some photos too if you're interested.

Thanks for the help.

James

All 3 of my TSU9600's only have a 638x480 visible screen area. The frame overlay image I use for my DVD cover image pages is a good example of how I need to account for this. See below.

The frame overlay image as shown above is positioned on top of the actual DVD cover image buttons. If you look closely you'll notice that the black border on the right side is two pixels wider than the left side. The right side is 3 pixels wide. The left side is 1 pixel wide. Originally when creating the frame overlay image I had the border 2 pixels wide on each side. Once downloaded to the remote however, the black border was not present on the right side. This is when I discovered that the last 2 vertical pixel rows of the 640x480 page area were not visible on the remote. As such, I simply updated the image to account for this as shown above. Now when downloading to the remote the black border is visible on the left and right sides, each 1 pixel wide.

Hi Lowpro

I've had to adjust panels, labels etc, since day 1.

I always put it down to the simulator not being accurate. So I would simply adjust to suit without taking too much notice.

I recently began a new project that the missing pixels became very apparent. With only a 32 pixel high system bar and transparency everywhere, the problem became really noticeable.

Now I know the missing pixels are not there I can design my layouts to accommodate, right from the start. Which is far better than the constant tweaking method I've been using up to now.

I now have a 29 pixel high system bar (and a lot more faith in the simulator).

Of course having a 29 pixel high system bar is a bit tight, so I'm toying with the idea of having secondary thick system bar in a sliding panel that appears for a few seconds whenever I jump page/activity.

Having the top of a page missing a few pixels is no huge problem. Missing pixels from the sides would drive me up the wall!
