OK this might be a bit crazy, but a thought came to me.

could it be feasible to use the RS-232 feature with an RS-232/Bluetooth converter to control a PS3


BTW trying o find out a bit more on the PS3 protocol I found this that looked interesting

in essence it is the opposite, the person is using the controller with a Linux PC to use the motion sensor part of the controller to control his machine

What you'd really need to do is sniff out what the BD Movie Remote is sending (controller isn't much use - the existing IR remote solution does as much).

I agree it might as well be the remote and the other features. I mentioned the controllerbecause it has the most important features. How often does anyone use the #s and the rest. I think the big issue from an integration point of view (i.e. others using the system in your home) is that there is no on/off If it can mimic the PS button then we have the most important functionality. Plus if that works the rest would be Childs play.
