I am installing a TSU9800 with PEP2 programming, one RFX9400, and one RFX9600 all on a fixed IP network.

The system works excellent with the exception of two 42" LG televisions. I am using database and learned codes, both types operate intermittently. When they operate, they operate flawlessly. When they fail they all fail, and the extenders lock up for 3 to 10 seconds. The failure listed is "Extender did not acknowledge command."

What we know it isn't:

1. IR emitters. We thoroughly tested these, and changed them out with the emitters on fully functioning components. No change.

2. The IR codes. Our 19 inch LG works fine on the same codes.

3. The network. Both extenders have additional components on them that function flawlessly.

4. The LGs, they function perfectly on their own remotes.

Which leaves the extenders. Please let me know if you've seen this before and know how to solve it. I've already talked to Philips support extensively.

Thank you.

I've had problems with extenders locking up, but never for that short period of time. When my extender locks up, whether it be RS232 or an IR port, it's down for good until I do a power cycle.

I am assuming you have all firmware up to date on the extenders? I'm curious to hear what tech support told you since I don't know a solution...

Which extender are the LGs working with, and how?
If you replace the 42" LGs with 19" LGs and everything else is the same, does it all work?

Tech support suggested making sure our router is single band G (it is), and other shots in the dark that didn't pan out. They seem to have general knowledge. I think in this case I need specific experience.

Didn't swap the 19" for the 42", This is something we will try. There is a 42 on each extender, connected by an IR emitter. We're definitely having extender issues as every "command failed" comes with an extender communication error.

What brand of wireless router are you using?

I had a job that I purchased a wired router from my distributor SMC Networks (Never Heard Of) and a Linksys WAP-54G access point and I was getting some "VERY" funky problems... 10 second lockups, command failures etc. I put in a Netgear wireless router turned off the wireless and the "funky" problems went away still had problems with the Linksys. As people on this forum know I then installed the Pakedge WAP-W3 and.... Perfect.... So, I do not believe your problem is directly related to the LG's unless there is a problem with the IR string???

Hey Joe,

Thanks for this. Agree that the problem is not the LGs. Will purchase and install your recommended router. We are in fact using a Lynksys WRT54G.

Joe,

To set this up. I take it I disable the wireless on the lynksys and connect the WAP to the router? Are there any particular errors I should watch for?
