One of the big advertising points of the Pronto Pro series of remotes is the their ability to play .wav files. Unfortunately I haven't had the time to implement many sounds in my xcf. I'm thinking of adding one for every activity, so a female's voice would say "Setting up Live TV" and such.

What sounds do you use on your setup?

I wish I could come up with some useful ideas to implement sounds on my Pronto. Maybe in the future someone will write prontoscript that will use RSS feeds and a text-to-speech program to enable the reading of live RSS on the pronto.

IMHO sounds like you describe sound good until implemented and then are simply annoying.. kind of like how hearing "Your door is open" in your car is neat the first time but after that gets very old very fast...

Yeah that's a good point, and probably why I never bothered to implement any sounds at all in my xcf. I was just hoping that maybe there was some way to usefully take advantage of the Pronto's ability to play .wavs.

For entertainment purposes I setup a sound board screen (used mostly by my son) that has approx 24 buttons each with its own wav sound. Sounds on the buttons are sounds like applause, boo, car crash, gun shots, laugh, etc. The kids will play sounds during a show or movie for effect. Easy to do and entertaining...

Sounds like fun. Would you mind sharing the relevant page of your XCF?

I've asked a similar question a while back as I wanted to find a source of sounds for my TSU 9600. Just for fun but also to provide feedback on some actions. I never found a (free) source and am only using the sounds that came with the remote...

Sure - sent you a PM. Page is pretty simple, just an array of buttons that call out a wav file but you're welcome to it...

You can use whatever sounds you want as long as they are PCM 44.1 kHz, 16 Bit, Mono (WAV files). I've created several for my setup that I took directly from DVDs to fit the theme on my 9800. In XP, you can use the sound recorder to do this. Fairly straightforward. The sound recorder program in Vista is pathetic, so I just moved the one from XP to Vista and use it... After created them, move them to the c:\ProgramData\Phillips\ProntoEdit Professional 2\sounds folder (if you used the defaults when you installed the program). They then get read in by the PEP2 program when you launch it and can be selected in the Action area for the button, etc. SJ
