Hi,

I'm thinking off going from RU980(TSU7000) to the TSU9400

Is it possible to give the "new" power hardbutton a dual function?
Like assigning an all-on macro button, and let it toggle to an all-off macro button!
And so on!

Since i'm converting my PCF, i'm sticking to PEP1 for now!
Are there any prontoscripts allready outthere which do that?

Two ways of doing it
- two copies of each page, one for when it is on and one for when it is off
- write some ProntoScript

Since you want to use the functionality on the hard button, you will require 2 activities with one page each or ProntoScript as Peter says.

Claudio S.,

One possibility is to use the power button to jump to a dedicated power page that has buttons for individual devices, the whole system, or a zone. The user can use the appropriate button(s).

This would also be a simple, first ProntoScript application.

Note that creating a power toggle can cause confusion if the user presses a front panel button to turn a unit ON or OFF -- unless the Pronto can be made aware of each unit's current status. In many cases you'll be able to work around some of these issues, but the user will need to be aware enough to press the power button multiple times in order to get things synchronized. In my experience, few users will have this presence of mind.

In general, I try to avoid power ON buttons. If the equipment supports discrete power commands, the ON commands can be included in the macros. This means that, when the user selects "Watch TV" or "Listen to Radio", appropriate devices are turned ON, inputs are selected, and the program jumps to the appropriate screen. I've been using this approach since the TSU1000, it is very intuitive for technically shy users.

On the 9400/9600 I use the power hard button to go to a generalized power page appropriate for the current context. If the room is turned OFF, I jump to and appropriate home page (most of my units are whole house, multi-zone). I also include a "return" button and use the browse backward special function to go back to the previous page. For example, This allows the user to turn OFF the TV while listening to the radio. (Automatically turning OFF the TV is not always appropriate while listening to the radio)

When appropriate, I may include a "Room OFF" button on a page.

I have a simple use of the Power button. I track the power on state of all devices through the activity selection on the Home page. I may turn the television on or off based on the type of activity, but leave other devices on once they are turned on.

The Power button of an activity is typically the power toggle of the device other than the television or amplifier (both have discrete codes) and functions as a fail safe. I hardly use them, but if the device was not turned on for some reason, I use it turn on the device (but it does not change the power state I am tracking).

For the Home activity, the Power button always turns off all devices which are assumed to be on.

With other words, when I am ready to call it a night, I press the Home button to go to the Home page and press the Power button to turn off all active devices.

First off all, thanks for the reply's

My first idear was to have two devices (Activities) as a home screen!
The original and a hidden version!
And setting the macro seperate in the device properties!
So on the original the on's and in the hidden the off's

But then when i use the home hard button it wil always return to the original!
Almost all my my power codes are discretes, except my Rel sub!
So that not an issue!

In my RU980 i have two buttons on the home screen, on and off which powers everything on or off!
Plus my 4th firm links to a pace where all the seperate powers are layed out!
So the idear to use the power button as a link to a page is sort of what i do now!
And since they are all discrete it almost never flaws.

So i just need it to alternate between system power macro's

I'm new to prontoscript, so i'm going to have a look at that!
My best guess is that that's the only way to come close!

Any hints where to look for that particulair prontoscript xample?

You can program the home button to go to a speciifc page.

[I know English is not your first language, but the plural of "reply" is "replies".]

You see, never to old to learn!

We Dutch often use english words, and make them "sort off" our own!
Hence the problem, ha!
