Can you confirm for me
that if you do NOT select a wireless extender under a
devises Properties screen using PEPv1, that the devise
in question will continue to function via IR?

Yes you are correct.

Ted,

As Jason says, you are correct. However, now that I have looked again at PEPV1, I can see that the whole thing is more difficult than it would be in PEPV2 because the extender associations are set differently. In effect, it sort of forces you to go down the route originally suggested by Rick, namely hidden devices (your use of the term).

Okay, reworked the configuration. Only took about an hour and only required one additional hidden devise, the Sony TV itself as it was never a devise in PEPv1. I did have to create some hidden pages for discrete ON and OFF comands as I could no longer send them directly from MY DATABASE as it wouldn't know from what port or using what method (IR or RF).

Ordered and RFX9400 from B&H Photo in NYC. Given I'm only 30 miles away, should be here in a few days. Decent price. $249. A bit more than the Xantec solution I was using, but I'm tired of messing around and if this works, it will be worth it.

Here's my question. I tried running the new config, albeit without an extender as I don't have one yet, and the console says "CONNECTING...". Then it says comand failed when I attempt to run the macro. Can I assume that once I purchase an extended, and set it up in stand alone mode (don't see any reason to network it in WIFI as I'm only using it in the home theater) that this problem will resolve itself?

Okay. Thanks all. I'm in waiting mode now until the RFX arrives. Will repost once I receive and hopefully resolve my problem. Thanks to everyone, and have a terrific new years if I don't speak to you folks. Be safe and well.

Total Success!! Goes to show that you guys (and gals) were right. The IR repeater must have been messing with the commands. Haven't run the wires nicely yet behind the wall unit, but tried it out by laying the wires out in front and taping the emitters over the components. Everything worked on the first try. Very excited. Ended up costing a bit more than my original LCD IR repeater, but it ended up being a simpler install with less wiring. The only hang up was a 1 hour investment into modifying my configuration to allow for RF of most components. Thanks again. Happy New Year to all!!

True. Totally learned about creating configurations with RF and IR in mind. Would definitely have saved some time if I planned for this from the beginning. Much easier hardware install and worked in no time flat. 40 min from beginning to end. Very pleased!! Thanks to all.
