Has anyone noticed that the contents of XCF files cannot be viewed using Windows Compressed folders?

If I rename an XCF to have a .zip extension, then double click on it, nothing appears to be inside it. This happens on both Vista and Windows XP.

However if I use WinRAR I can see the contents.

Both Vista and XP can see the contents of PCFs fine.

Could be the type of compression used. Windows' zip support has never been very versatile, while WinRAR will open practically anything regardless of its file name. Excellent software, that.
