Hi,

After having solved my startup problems with my RFX9600 extender (the Vigor 2900G router was the bad working component of my system and now everything works fine), I have a question about the sensor modules.
In the manual of the extender quote 'sensor modules are not delivered with the extender, but most available modules are compatible with the extender.....'
What do they mean by 'most available modules'?
What 'module' can I use to detect on/off of f.i. my Panasonic Plasmascreen on my TSU9600?

Other companies already make sensors that are generic and will work with most control platforms. Elan for example makes Power sensing and Video sensing modules that just plug into most any system. I think Xantech makes them too I havent looked at that in a while.

Hi GYPSMOB,

Thank you for your reply.
I got a mail from Xantech (your tip) They sell a 'led and light sensor module' that can detect the color of the on/off light of the device.
I wonder if it works and how it works, but one sensor for $ 60,- ???

The "sensor ports" are design to condition a command, based on the status of the component; e.g. "send power togle only if the component is off." There are many ways to work around this ports. First we need to know:

What component, make and model, are you trying to control?
Why are you relying on the sensor ports?

Mike13, If it is a cable box you are working with, simply get a 9VDC regulated adapter and connect to one of the Power Sense ports on the RFX9600. Then, plug this adapter into the extra power jack on the back of your cable box. This solution is "real" cheap and will work just as good as any sensor.

My understanding is that the RFX-9600 Power Sense circuitry is voltage-triggered in that any voltage above 3-5 volts will indicate a "Power On" status.

EDIT - I must assume from avtech's post below that the user want's credit for the idea. Well then, see the the link below as she was the one who first mentioned this.

"LOL. I guess there is a good use for all those Wall-Warts."

Hi Avtech,
I am trying to control a plasmascreen 2 topfield sat receivers, a Pioneer DVR, Bose 3-2-1 soundsystem, a videorecorder, anyway a lot of devices.....
The sensor ports are the ports that can detect the on/off state of the devices, I think....

Hi Lyndel,

As I told Avtech it is not the cablebox but several devices.....
Do you know how this mysterious sensor port works? Philips is giving hardly any info.
What does Philips mean by "most available (Wallmart) modules"?
Well maybe I have to wait for an answer, it's not that important, anyway i am glad my RFX9600 works with the ir ports.

It's wall-wart, not Wal-Mart, a common phrase used to describe those black boxes hanging off an outlet and supplying 5-12VDC. Also commonly known as an AC Adapter.

We don't use the term Wall Wart here. Most common term is power adapter.
