As promised I managed to build a Homeseer plugin. The plugin works by capturing RS232 commands it gets from the TSU9600. The commands that are pure text can then be used as triggers for anything you like in Homeseer.
Currenly I control my X10 lamps using it and I also got it to tell the time when I press a button on the remote!

I'll put up a webpage later and see if I can't get it out through Homeseers proper update interface later. But for the ones that want to try it before hand you can grab the plugin called HSPI Prontonic right now.
Unzip the file into your Homeseer dir.
Go to Setup->Interfaces and Enable 'Prontonic'.
If you then click 'Config' I have written a small tutorial on what you need to do.

Also as a side note I found another thing that causes the 'Invalid command' error. If you have multiple extenders set in the Pronto Pro editor to the same IP you will get that error.

Cheers

Are you using something like a virtual extender that is running on the Homeseer PC ? Or are you forced to use the pronto physical RFX9600 RS232 extender connected to a serial port on your PC ?

Anything about feedback ? Would it be possible to get HS light status on the pronto ?

Thanks,

stipus

It's virtual so you don't need any extender at all. The plugin handles it for you. HS Light status would be possible but then we would be forced to simulate the Lutron RadioRA protocol instead. I haven't looked at that yet so I don't known how hard it would be to add.

General 2 way communication through the RS232 protocol is still not possible.

Thanks a lot for your reply. How did you manage to build a virtual extender ? I asked the same question to the pronto team and they replied:

Dear Stipus,

Thank you for your interest in our Pronto but unfortunately the answer is no, we are not planning to develop a virtual extender.

Kind regards,
The Pronto team

The main problem in building a virtual extender is that you don't know the protocol. However in this case it was possible to build a proxy first so whatever it received it just passed onto a real extender. Then whatever the extender sent back the proxy sent to the remote. It's then just a matter of finding the patterns in the data stream and trying to figure out why some numbers change the way they do.
For example in every packet there is a packet counter that is used for resending of packets if they are lost on the way. So the virtual extender needs to keep track of that number and send the correct one back in all responses. This isn't hard it just takes quite a lot of time in comparing different binary dumps.

I still hope Philips releases a real virtual extender or as a second best option releases the protocol. If they only would do that we could build a much better virtual extender.

Just wanted to inform you guys and girls that I have fixed the only reported bug in the homeseer plugin and also created a real update package. It went up on homeseers real updater page a few minutes ago.
So if you have homeseer and want to try it just run the updater in homeseer and you should see it.
