Is there anyone else using SageTV? SageTV is a Windows Media Center-like software platform with support for audio, video, and photo playback and recording as well as a program guide and support for a wide variety of tuners.

I suspect the intersection of TSU9600 and SageTV users is small, but would be willing to clean it up and release it if there is enough interest. If you're interested, drop me a message on remotecentral.

More details -
I've written a PC server (TCP based communication to the 9600) around SageTV and DVDprofiler xml files. It uses Nielm's SageTV plug-in to control Sage and uses the XML info from DVD Profiler and SageTV (over tcp) to allow one to scroll through and select the video, audio, and photo assets on the 9600. Also, it supports http hosted image assets from profiler/etc as part of the interface (thanks Phillips). It supports multiple sage clients if you have several displays or audio devices around the house. It also supports mounting and playback of ISOs through the sage interface. Basically, the pc server provides input, search, and sort from various xml files. It also is capable of running tasks on the PC. This is performed over tcp using basic client/server request/response between the tsu9600 and PC.
I could support SageTV's Program Guide info on the 9600, but haven't looked at it as I primarily use Sage via a mouse and keyboard to schedule recordings and the 9600 for playback of audio/video assets.

There are two problems right now. The first is that I'm unhappy with the 9600 GUI and configuration files. The GUI is too utilitarian and is lacking a couple obvious features. I've started writing a GUI for the configuration and xml files, but it still needs work. The second issue is it is in need of documentation as there are third-party utilities being used.

Nobody responded to this? I'm surprised!

I use sagetv and I'd be interested to see what you have. I have a 9400 though. Shoot me a pm if you could share what you have.

Thanks!

I have never used Sage TV, but I will look into it. Do you have any screenshots?

Sort of funny - the reply is a year to the day after my original post :)

I've done some more work on it in the past year. The interface is still cheesy.  A little better, but still embarassing.  I cleaned up the code a little as well.

Drop me an email address in my RC mail and I'll forward some images.  It's a bit of a Frankenstein.  With the limited interest, I'm not sure it's worth documenting what it takes to get it running.  It would be pretty easy to remove some features to make it reasonable on the 9400.

It requires the SageTV webserver plug-in by nielm and I'm running a second webserver as well (IIS, but it shouldn't matter what it is)
