OK, it's working! However I had to disable the first 6 of those "HID-compliant consumer control" devices. Makes me wonder what else is not going to work. Anyway, at least now I can proceed.

Possibly worth mentioning I couldn't connect my remote and had strange HID errors on both my computers (XP) after installing ProntoEditPro and plugging in the remote. In both cases rebooting the PC completely fixed the issue.
