I have a RFX 9400 controlling eight components including a Elan Z630 pre-amp, one component is a Sony SXRD TV using port 2 and the Elan Z630 is using port3 on the 9400. Is it possible that IR code sent thru the Z630 keypad into the Z630 could backfeed into the 9400 and be routed out port 2 to the Sony SXRD TV? I have checked all programming and it seems as though this is happening! Any Thoughts Out There Thanks...Redman

I don't think this could be possible, I think the ports on the RFX9400 can only transmit, and would just ignore any signal that would be received in one of the ports.

Is it possible that the emitter of one component is close enough to the IR receiver of the other component? Try covering the emitter just to make sure that this is not what's happening.

randman's answer is most probable. Get some duct tape or electricians black tape and completely cover the Emitter/receiver on the sony unit. I had this issue with two DVRs stacked in a rack (not using a philips extender) and solved it as randman suggested

I've found that tape is often transparent to IR. I always back up the tape with aluminum foil. Also consider the possibility that IR can slip by the side of the foil -- I use a large patch of foil.

Xantech sells these plastic strips that go right over the IR emitters. They work well, although their pretty large. But, they also help hold up the IR emitter.
