I would LOVE to fully utilize my Pronto Professional by using the Pronto Script features, but I have absolutely NO IDEA how to go about it. I read some of the posts with examples of scripts and it looks like Greek to me. I am very good with computers and electronics and have programmed both the iPronto and the 9600 on my own using trial and error. I am ISF certified as well, so I can learn these things...Does anyone have any links or advice on how to learn this type of programming language? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Start by practicing examples in Prontoscript developers’ guide.
Get "JavaScript: The Definitive Guide"-David Flanagan, it will help you.

This link should work, but you can't copy and paste it to your browser... it will only work by clicking on it.:

Another way to find it would be to click on "Search" at the top-right of this screen, select option two: "Search for downloadable files", enter "Developers Guide" into the search field, and click the "Search" button.

I'm curious about ProntoScript also and though don't have a whole lot of spare time would like to understand it better; I have newly acquired 9400 and for some reason having more fun with it than with previous TSU1K/2K/3Kphilips remotes or editors.

I have the developers guide download and philips at some point check out the Flangan book. But consider making this thread a place for newbies like myself kKrohn, et al to put some basic questions about java/prontoscript here and perhaps the TechnoProntoDigirati can answer our questions and help us out ... just a thought. It sounds like something that can really extend the capabilities of the 9400.

I have programming language back ground and familiar with the concepts of object oriented programs and all that but I just dont't get the big, big picture on java/javascript/prontoscript ... so it goes.

Thanks for the feedback, the book is on its way to me and I am beginning to look over the developer's guide.

Also go to Mozilla.com for the Javascript reference as well as w3schools. You cannot live without the web when learning Javascript. Many, many examples are out there. However, be aware that there's also misinformation and things that don't work but these are few and far-between.
