They were buried in my closet.
Either the remote is broken or it does not work with the Sony DVD/VCR Sony RDR-VX530. I don't know if they were ever a pair.
Does anyone know if this remote will control Sony RDR-VX530 ?

Well, the RMT-V501A looks like it was sold with DVD/VCR combos, while the RDR-VX530 is a DVR-R/VCR combo. May not seem like much, but Sony always treated DVR-R codes as separate from DVD codes.
It would appear the RDR-VX530 originally shipped with the RMT-D224A remote. So nope, not a pair.
