The Sony Sony BDP-CX7000ES & BDP-CX960 mega-changers came with the RM-ADP036 remote. The command programming in the remote could be changed between 3 different command code sets and the changers could also be set to accept the 3 different code set allowing the respective changers to operate independently in the same area.
Has anybody any idea if there are any other remotes out there that come programmed with these 3 codes as Sony no longer make the RM-ADP036?
Any of the universal remotes I have checked only have the BD-1 code set and require the original remote to "learn" the other code sets.

I have the same problem, and have been searching for a means of changing the Command Codes, with no success. In addition, original ADP-036 remotes are very hard to find, and expensive. There are lots of universal remotes, but none that allow for the command code change.

I did find one old Sony remote which performs most of the important functions of the ADP036, BUT only if the Sony 400 player is set to Command Code 1

The remote is the Sony RMT-B103A (I don't know which Sony Blu-ray dvd player it was meant to control--I've owned many over the years).

Its quite inexpensive and readily available.

Otherwise, the only solutions I can think of are pretty obvious (1) find out how to add the command control function to the B103A, or (2) Reset a fully-functional ADP036 remote to Command 2 or 3, and then use the B103A, which is always set to Command Code 1, on the player which was originally on Command Code 1 [this allows you to keep one fully-functioning ADP036 for in reserve for future use] 0r (3) buy an original, fully-functioning ADP036.

A downside with this interchange of course is that the B103A may unintentionally turn on other unrelated Sony devices. But you can obviously put a removable cover over the small sensor on the front of the unintended device, and remove that cover to use the device. Or rearrange competing devices so the two are far enough apart to not easily simultaneously pick up the signal from the remote.

There may be other Sony remotes which function as substitutes as well as the B103A, and I hope people will post any additional information or insights.

I got the Sony RMT-B103A to use with my 400 disc player. When I press a button on it the screen on my disc player comes up bd3. That's all it does. I assume that refers to command 3... does anyone know how I can reprogram the dvd player to go back to command 1 so this remote will work? I've tried at least a dozen different remotes to get my SONY BDP-CX960 to work. Even one from China that specifically says it will work with my model and it still didn't. The guy who sold it only said it should work so I'll refund you. Gave me no reason why it didn't or even offer a replacement. And I can't find an original anywhere at any price. So reprogramming the player so that hopefully the RMT-B103A will work is my last hope.... or maybe the remote is set at command 3 and that needs to be reset?

To switchCommand Mode on the player:

1 Press HOME to display the home menu.
2 Select (Setup) using B/b.
3 Select “System Settings” using V/v, and
press .
4 Select “Command Mode,” and press .
5 Select a command mode (BD1, BD2, or
BD3), and press .
The display asks for confirmation.
6 Select “Yes,” and press .
The command mode for the player is
changed to the one you set in step 5.

Got the above instructions on page 60 of the pdf on line for your model BD.

Thanks, but the problem with those directions is that they require a working remote, which is my whole problem. Or at the least requires the orignial remote, as the replacement first suggested in this thread does not have the required buttons to change the command for the remote to match the player. Does anyone know where I can find an original remote that isn't $500 (the only one I've found so far, which is more than I paid for the player) or how I can change the command code from the player directly, without a remote?

Sorry, I took those instructions as front panel buttons along with on-screen menu, so no need for the remote.

I wish they were. But the front panel has no arrows. So there's no way to select anything that doesn't already have a button on the panel. =(
I don't know why they would make this so it can't be operated at all without the remote.

What you want is remote with website full of codes like harmony remotes, just so you can get a remote set to BD3, then you use it switch back to BD1, and the remote you have now would work. Harmony is getting out of the remote business so no new models, but their keep website up.

How would I get it to work without a specific BD button? How would I know how to get it switched back to bd1?
I did ask lowpro as you suggested but no response.

Remote Central doesn't have subscribe thread notication, so LowPro may net see it until he posts a new upgrade to his system and sees your post. You can try Rc mailing him.

In the harmony software under blu-ray and sony, try each upgrade until it controls your player, and not put up a message "BD3", which is telling you're using BD1 or BD2 remote code on a player set to BD3. There might by more then one uograde for players set to BD3, just pick one that has the commands in the directions needed to switch modes I posted previously. Once you do switch and you want to keep the harmony you're going to have repprogram it for BD1, that way you have two remotes controlling the Sony blu-ray player.

I just looked at the prices of use harmony remotes they are sky high. Even for used.

Personally I own very cheap Sony blu-ray player thats been upgraded to region free for both dvd & blu-rays. But the player only knows bd1 code which is 21516 in UEI remotes. So I can't test for BD3 commands, or codes.
