Hi I just bought the Apple TV and needed help as to how I can program my Bose SR1 remote to operate the Apple TV. I'm a novice at this....so please keep it simple. Thank you very much in advance!

Instead of the remote learning the Apple Tv, the Apple Tv can be taught commands from any IR(infra-red) remote, will not work with RF remote. How, read the manual.
