Hi can anyone help, i have an Eltax ht-153 home theatre the problem is we have re-decorated and misplaced the remote, i have tried at least 4 different urc's but the codes dont work.
I have tried to locate a replacement for it but nothing on the internet, i contacted Etax themselves but my unit is outdated so no remote available but they were able to give me the codes for it, which are 2028 and 1719, does anyone know of a URC which will take a 4 digit code they all seem to use 3.

HIfi-remote.com has an upgrade file for the Eltax HT-154.  It uses the  NEC1 IR protocol, device 0.191.

You're in the UK, right?  Then a OneForAll URC-7950 has a setup code that you can customize to work, assuming the 153 responds to the same IR signals as the 154. The URC-7940,  7960, 7525, 7780, 7781, or 8350 would also work.  OneForAll may also have some newer models that will work.

The remote will need customization, which you would do by entering a 5 digit EFC for each function.  If you decide to go this route, we can tell you the 5 digit numbers.

I don't recognize any of those setup codes.  Each remote manufacturer has their own. 

Since Eltax seems to be responsive, maybe you can get them to describe the IR signal.  For example the NEC IR protocol is 38KHz, with a zero represented by an on burst of 560microseconds and off for 560 uS.  A 1 is represented by on for 560uS, and off for 1680uS.  There are 32 bits in the signal.  If they have that kind of info, then we can tell if a univeral remote can be made to work.
