This new forum is specifically for help with OEM universal remotes - the universal remotes that originally came with something else. Such as a television, an A/V receiver, a cable box, a satellite receiver, your TiVo and so forth.

Essentially, if one of the device buttons on the remote can only control the device that it came with, then that's an OEM remote.

Although the capabilities of these remotes are often quite limited, some can do more than might be expected and could very well control your entire system.

Get help with using them here!

I'm not sure what you mean; you cannot find your TV code?

I have a Panasonic CDP-72 5-disk DVD changer and have flat out lost the remote. Any ideas on how to get a replacement?

Do you mean DVD CP72?
If so, then all the individual IR commands are known, so any Logitech Harmony could be used, or a large number of remotes made by UEI. Universals are unlikely to have buttons with each changer function name, but the above remotes can have the necessary commands programmed onto a button of your choice.

UEI remotes are pretty inexpensive. In fact you may have a cable remote laying around that would work, if you have Comcast, Cox, Time Warner, etc. Or Vizio high end TV. Nearly any OneForAll, and some Radio Shack remotes would will work.

If you want to buy new, the RCA RCRP05B ($20 at Best Buy, or Walgreens is running a special at the moment for $15), or the OneForAll URC-8820N at Sears are good.

Use Setup Code Video 0490, and we can tell you how to add in specific changer commands.
