I have the included irTrans module with the Origen X11. I'm running Windows XP and trying to get SageTV configured correctly. I have girder setup to intercept ir signals from my Microsoft remote, and send to Sage...this works just fine.

My problem is that windows also recognizes some of the basic remote commands, and executes them on whatever window is active(up, down, left, right, select). I can tell Sage to unlink these commands, and it works fine until I close and reopen sage, which restores me to the original problem-- the unlinking does not stick. I can also tell girder to not send those commands that are problematic, which does work, but it brings me to another, possibly related problem.

The left and right buttons double as skip forward and back in Sage for some reason. So if I'm listening to music while trying to build a playlist or look at the program guide, the music skips forward and back while I try to navigate.

I see this problem if I have windows sending the command(also does the same thing to winamp if in focus). I also see the problem if I, manually unlink these commands from Sage, so that I have to use Girder to send them to Sage for the above commands to work. So this might not be a windows/irTrans problem. Still, I'm trying to figure it out, and I would like to know how to prevent windows from using these remote buttons on a global scale so that I can take full control in girder.

I've uninstalled the irTrans drivers, and software. I've looked in Sage, irTrans and windows folders for some obvious remote initialization file that might be the cause of this issue without success. So I'm now left to posting questions on forums and waiting for hopefully a useful response here and from irTrans through email.

Hope you guys can help me out.

Well for anyone who is interested, I never found out how to fix the problem. I did work around it and in so doing, thing the source of the problem is with the irTrans module/software. The software I installed came with a preprogrammed file containing codes for the microsoft remote. I didn't have to learn anything, but for some reason, it was sending windows messages for the up/down/left/right/select buttons(thats it) which would work in whatever window was in focus.

My fix: I just moved the microsoft remote code file to another directory so the irTrans module doesn't find it on load. I made a new file and re-learned all the buttons from scratch. This new remote file does not send the same windows commands.

Hope that might be useful to someone.
