I just bought a Logitech Harmony 880 remote, and now I'd like to use it with my HTPC. The problem is that I don't have a standard MCE remote with a receiver that I could just use with my Harmony. Instead of spending $40 for a remote and receiver when I only need the receiver, do you guys know where I could just get the receiver for a decent price?

Never heard of one being sold by itself (except maybe by a user on Ebay).

I too am running into that problem. Logitech doesn't sell one, I can't find one for less than $50.
Anyone else know of anything? Or have another IR receiver for sale?

Does USB IrDA work with my Harmony 675 and my PC? Anyone else know to use?

Oops! I just posted a similar question in a separate thread (and then discovered this thread!)

After a lot of looking around the Web, it seems like a reasonable deal would be to just buy the Microsoft Media Center remote (see NewEgg)

and simply use it for its IR receiver and pair of blasters.

But I have the question whether the Harmony 880 can "talk" to it. Check out this link for some interesting information:

If you have the original remote the 880 can certainly learn all the commands. I would be surprised if the Logitech database doesn't already have the MCE commands for the 880. I'm not sure if the Msoft remote/IR receiver comes with drivers but if it doesn't you will need to get those before the computer can accept commands from the remote. So if you opt to just get the IR receiver make sure you can get the drivers as well. So in theory you could just get the IR receiver and drivers and setup the 880 for the MCE remote.
