Is anyone using a PC to feed mp3s into an amp system that is controlled using NetRemote and a PDA? I am thinking of using this for my whole house audio system as it is very hard to control my Digital Audio receiver blindly (with remote or keypads). I am talking about adding songs to the playlist, selecting playlists, browsing the library etc. Obviously, it is easy to tell it to skip to the next song.
If you use a decent quality sound card, is the quality of the output good enough to feed into an amp?

Yes, I'm using Netremote + J River Media Center through an M-Audio soundcard. You could use analog audio from a good PC soundcard, or SPDIF to a preamp/amp or receiver. You will also be able to upgrade to multizone in several different ways at some point. If you have USB-UIRT or something similar, you will be able to do anything with IR also.

I am using my pc audio output for my whole house system. It is fed into 2 Russound PR-4Z pre-amps which feed 2 Niles SI-1230 12-channel amps. I am using a Roland external soundcard connected by USB 2.0. This soundcard choice is mainly for the purpose of connecting my guitars/mikes to my computer. I had an internal Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card, and it sounded just fine through the system. I'm not using any remote yet, but am looking for a way to use my pronto remote to pick songs using a numerical keypad, like you would for a multidisk cd changer. I am currently trying Jukebox Simulator software, and am thinking of getting an iMon remote. The Jukebox simulator will allow you to select the desired song by album/track number (like a jukebox). I like the looks of the iMon remote, and will teach it's commands to the Pronto so I can write macros to select songs.
