8 Sizzling Backyard Theaters

These cool outdoor theater rigs were showcased on ProjectorPeople.com - and there's still some summer left to enjoy one at your own home.

Yes, we’re almost halfway through August, but that doesn’t mean the summertime fun has to end soon. Especially if you’ve been using your backyard as an outdoor theater mecca, and inviting the neighborhood over for some movies this summer.

We recently told you that online projector and screen retailer ProjectorPeople.com was holding a backyard theater contest, and several worthy setups were entered.




The folks over there were kind enough to let Electronic House have a look and share with our audience as well. Hey, we’re always up for showing people more ways to skin a home theater cat.

We’ve included the number of contest votes each received and a description from the homeowner.

Monday Night Football
We had this cookout on a Monday night football game. It was the Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers. Everyone that was there was from our church and we had about 40 people. We had 6 fire pits for s’mores, hot dogs, and hamburgers. We had a Mackie mixing console with two 15-inch speakers for sound. (147 votes)

Backyard Date Night
With our two children, ages 3 and 4, my husband and I find it hard to have time alone. We find it next to impossible to get the chance to go to the movies on a date. Instead of paying for a high price baby sitter, we find our favorite dates exist in our tiny candle lit backyard, when the kids are asleep, watching movies on our Epson Home DVD Movie Mate.
