Bull Durham, Elvis and Charlie's Angels are among the highlights.A little while back when we picked out 20 Best Sports Movies on Blu-ray, there was a glaring omission that we noted, because it wasn’t scheduled to arrive on Blu-ray until August 3. Well, it’s August 3 today, and now we can breathe a little easier knowing that one of the funniest movies of all-time—sports or non-sports—is out in high-def: Bull Durham.
Before Costner got carried away with doing a combination of sports movies and underwhelming epic films, he starred in Bull Durham. It was perfect for him, Susan Sarandon and pre-big star Tim Robbins. You’d be hard-pressed to find a wittier movie script, and with the transfer to Blu-ray should be as fresh today as it was when it was released in 1988.
Another iconic movie of the 80s, The Breakfast Club, also gets the high-definition treatment this week in its 25th anniversary year. It may look a little dated at this point, but at least you get to hear Simple Minds in uncompressed audio on the soundtrack.

It soon transpires that the elder Sullivan is a hitman for the mob, and when young Michael witnesses a killing carried out by the gangster boss’ son Connor, it starts off a chain of events which will mark Michael’s life forever.
