Must-Have iPad Apps

The iPad is here. Now what can you do with it?

Maybe you heard, but the iPad came out last weekend.

Even if you've been following the frenzy closely, it's not hard to miss some of the little things - like all of the iPad-specific apps that were announced.

Sure, the iPad works with the existing 150,000 iPhone apps out there. But not all of them look so great when blown up on the big screen. That doesn't exactly make for a nice demo.

Last week, we were waiting, wondering and wishing about the iPad apps we wanted. Now we are getting word about a few excellent ones that are already available.

Here are some of our favorite iPad apps.



Netflix
Just in case streaming Netflix wasn’t addictive enough, this free app allows subscribers to stream the online service to a device that’s under 2 pounds. Talk about maximizing that monthly Netflix subscription! Unlimited streaming plans start at $8.99 a month. After that, you can stream thousands of TV episodes and movies until they are downright silly.

Star Walk
Sorry, but this doesn’t have anything to do with Ewoks, Clone Wars or the birthplace of Boba Fett. Instead, it’s a pretty awesome iPad app, which provides an up-close peek at galaxies far (and not so far) away. Tilt the iPad toward the sky and the screen will show off the actual constellations around you, even if you move
