Crestron’s Media Manifold Regulates RF Signals Over HD Cable Network - Genius!

Automatically adjusts for tilt and gain for each cable zone -- no need for spectrum analyzers and special training.

Crestron’s new Media Manifold is an HD cable distribution system that regulates RF signals over the home’s cable network. It’s one of those products that is so intuitive you can’t imagine that it didn’t already exist.

You can get some great HD content over digital cable in most situations, but not if you have a larger house where you’re splitting out the cable and running it to multiple rooms over different lengths of cable. One of the rooms might look great, the others … not so great.

Most distribution hubs take in the cable feed “and then you have one big screwdriver slot for amplitude,” says Crestron vice president of technology Fred Bargetzi. “You can crank it up to crank up the gain, but it cranks up the gain on all outputs. That won’t work if you have 200-foot runs and 800-foot runs.”

The Media Manifold adjusts tilt and amplification “quickly and properly” for 12 outputs (more with an additional slave box), says Bill Schafer, Crestron director of product and channel development.

I was excited to see that Crestron adopted an ancient technology! I have not done a job in recent history that had less than 24 coax jacks in it. As far as I know, it's limit is 24 outs. Cool features but----so what-----it's expensive, and we have been getting the jobs done this long without it. I wish they would spend more time on perfecting existing product instead of wasting man hours on developing new somewhat useless crap.
