5 Great Garage Theaters

By Rachel Cericola

Why let your car have all of the fun? Here are a few of our favorite garages.

Some of us dream of having our cars nestled in at night. Then there are those of us that have bigger and better ideas for that space.

After all, most cars could deal with a little snow and bird business, if a giant theater screen and speakers were the trade-off.

We have seen a lot of people ditch the well being of their cars, all in the name of great entertainment. Instead of pimping their rides, they added comfy seats, big screens and even bigger sound systems—and in some cases, a few completely unique items that make us want to move in a bed, a toilet and truly call this room “home.”

We’ve picked out just a few of the garage spaces that manage to get our motors running, despite the lack of actual automobiles—with one exception, anyway. Each of these homeowners took that typically dirty, greasy, critter-infested space and made something truly special out of it.

Although it certainly looks impressive. How anyone can consider hanging a plasma in a corner of a garage a "theater" is beyond me. Got half of it right anyways...lol.

At least the other listings have what I would think anyone would believe a theater should have...at the minimum:

-big screen
-comfortable seating
-surround sound

Hell to get a half assed proper viewing distance on that fujitsu, you'd either have to stand underneath it and break your neck or sit on a ladder...lol.
....Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

There's more to the space...what's above the garage meets your qualifications:

"The garage and an office take up the first floor, while a 1,200-square-foot living space including a living room, kitchen and two bedrooms is on the second floor. A 42-inch plasma HDTV with Artisan speakers attached to the sides and in-ceiling SpeakerCraft speakers, along with a Denon receiver, provide the home theater revs for post-racing downtime."

Well I guess if you sit close enough to a 42" it would seem like a big screen.

I did skim the article, but honestly missed that part. Shame you didn't show pics of the part that qualified it as a "theater". However with the bar you set with the other examples. A 42"er with 5.1 is kinda lack luster.... JMO

Point taken.

Here's the slideshow link which provides more pictures of that space.
