New Gadget Keeps Remote Controls Close

By Rachel Cericola

Too bad Mother’s Day has passed. My husband might want to get me this Remote Control Finder just because—just because I am constantly losing things.

Seriously though. My keys, my wallet, my phone, my sneakers, my camera—I could go on or I could just get this $17 gadget. At least it would make sure I’d never have to suffer a moment of movie-watching to search in and under the couch.

Just attach one of the three included “caddies” to your remote. When you need to find it, just blow the kit’s whistle. I wonder if it works on keys, kids and dogs as well.

Looks big, unsightly, bulky, and overall annoying.

But wait, there's more! If you call in the next 15 minutes we'll throw in this cordless car vacuum for free. An 89 dollar value, yours free! (just pay shipping and processing)

I have to agree, that's a rather chunky looking item to consider attaching to the front of my remote - and never mind the electronics, just the added thickness should be enough to keep it from slipping between the cushions!

But on a serious note, it looks as though it would make the bottom keys somewhat uncomfortable to use.

reminds me of the the onions remote for remote

so that begs the question, what if you lose that much smaller whistle?

Exactly! But I'd be willing to bet they offer a replacement whistle for just $34 + s/h and there are people out there who are naive enough to buy it. :-)

rotflmao!!! thats the first thing i thought.

this has to go down with the worst products ever invented.

i've always wondered why remotes dont have a pager/beeper much like your cordless phone? it seems it would be a fairly cheap feature to implement into any remote, the pager button could be on your TV or whatever device. but more so on the universals that already have a speaker built in, the pager button could be on the charging cradle. not that i've EVER misplaced my universal mind you, but i also have the luxury of a private den in my home so there arent any kids misplacing it on me.

I think there actualy was a TV (or maybe DVD player or VCR or something) that actually did.

I think in the end a phone will be left on a table or something and what you are looking for is what room it is in, so a loud sound is useful, remotes tend to be underneath coucn cushions or stuff so the sound would be muffled

but more so on the universals that already have a speaker built in, the pager button could be on the charging cradle.

agree, but even though I used to always lose my other remotes, when you have a cradle I find it is harder to loose (it becomes easy to teach yourself you need to put it there to charge)

I think in the end it is inertia that will win out which makes it relatively impractical
“ the remote is most likely in the cushions, why bother to go all the way to the TV to push the pager, to go back to the sofa to remove the cushion to look for it”
