I am thinking of getting an OTA Set Top Box as I cut the cable cord last month. My TV does Decode all the channels I need but I like the idea of routing OTA through my AVR via HDMI. Makes for easy switching. I was wondering if there was a device selection that is close enough .... or is it a complete learn situation.

Any help would be appreciated.

I think most people have never even heard of a ZapperBox before. I know I haven't until this post.
It looks similar to other solutions that are on the market but at a way higher price. Why would anyone pay 2x the money for a simple OTA box?

The remote is just a standard 26 IR code remote. You can learn those into CCP in less than 5 minutes. It would take at least 30 minutes to go thru all the OTA box codes in CCP to find a match. And I highly doubt you are going to find discrete on/off codes, these boxes NEVER have that feature. Toggle power only.

ATSc 3.0 and DRM decoding. Plus, it is another toy to play with. :)

Agreed about the programming, but just asking to find out if anyone has done it.

I ended up "Teaching" the 880 all the codes and it works fine.

My Zapperbox is turning out to be fine, no subscriptions, easy to setup and just works, and scheduled to support DRM in August. Plus their Tech support is good and responsive.
