Thanks for this, how do the Channel Numbers translate to IR Codes? From what I can understand IR codes are 5 or 6 digits.

Is it as simple as adding preceding Zeros? I do not have the UEI remote to test it yet.

I am beginning to feel really dumb here. I may be 70 years old, but I do have an Engineering Degree. I am trying VERY hard to understand this. I will get a Walmart UEI remote next time I am out. I do have an Xfinity remote that has a setup button on it. I am experimenting with it. I can get it to control a Roku TV but not my Roku Ultra.

Edmund said to do this, please see my comments:

To map those codes to key on the UEI remote:

1. Roku device with setup code 3061

- What is this Code? I need one for the Roku Ultra, where do I find fit? Do I put it into the UEI remote so I can control the Ultra?

2. Press and hold SETUP for two blinks, release
3. enter 9 9 4
4. press SETUP for one blink

- I get all the above 2, 3 & 4

5. enter 5-digit code from above

- Where do I find these codes? I cannot find ant Roku codes for any Roku apps, is there a list I am missing?

6. pick a key

Do I have to hit Setup again?

Sorry to keep on about it.

With my Roku's recently, pressing right cursor once to go from the HOME to the upper left app, it skips to the Ad on the far right. :( Pressing left cursor once jump you to that upper left app. You can't rely on macros to switch to given app.

There are many apps that have discrete commands available that all you need is a cheap UEI made universal remote like this Onn 6 at Walmart:

[Link: walmart.com]

Or this Insignia from Best Buy:

[Link: bestbuy.com]

The commands include:

google play 00022

rdio 00026

you tube 00032

deezer 00054

prime video 00082

ted 00084

spotify 00086

pandora 00088

red bull 00090

cbs AA/Paramount+ 00128

yupp tv 00130

vudu 00138

showtime 00149

hulu 00151

hbo max 00153

WWW network 00180

crackle 00181

the CW 00182

happy kids tv 00184

starz 00222

roku ch 00118

netflix 00148

espn 00187

apple tv 00073

disney+ 00070
discovery + 00039

To map those codes to key on the UEI remote:

1. Roku device with setup code 3061
2. Press and hold SETUP for two blinks, release
3. enter 9 9 4
4. press SETUP for one blink
5. enter 5-digit code from above
6. pick a key

Once mapped to the button, you can teach it to whatever learning universal you want.

There are numeral commands 0-9 for use with Roku Ch Live Guide on stand alone Roku like the Ultra or Express that take IR commands:

0- 00101
1- 00230
2- 00232
3- 00228
4- 00235
5- 00231
6- 00233
7- 00100 or 00108
8- 00106 or 00114
9- 00102 or 00110

Ch UP- 00183
Ch Down- 00185

The 5-digit codes for numeral commands are at the bottom of the quoted post.

Yes I get that. So if the channel number is 415

Then the code is: 00235 00230 00231 ????

Each of the codes are mapped to keys 0-9 on the universal remote one at a time. Once there you simply use 0-9 key on universal remote to enter a proper channel number.

First Streamer device has to have code 3061, or the 5-digit codes won't work:

1. press streamer device key
2. press and hold SETUP key for two blinks, release
3. enter code 3 6 0 1

Now to zero to the zero key:

1. Streamer device

2. press and hold SETUP key for two blinks, release

3. enter code 9 9 4

4. tap SETUP for one blink

5. enter 0 0 1 0 1

6. press ZERO key on the universal remote

Repeat for each numeral, entering a different 5-digit code in step FIVE, and picking a different key to map to in step SIX. Next it will be 00230 in step FIVE and press to number 1 key on the universal remote. And so on.

Ah! I get it now .... I think. THANKS!

So now all I need is the Channel Number for say Bloomberg and I can enter it direct from the number keys on the UEI remote.

Then I can teach my 880 those number codes. THEN I can use a macro to go direct to the channel number.

Now I need a list of channel numbers for my selected channels. I spoke to Roku support, and they do not have one they will give me. :(. The one linked in one of the posts above does not have the channels I use.

Other than You Tube (Edmund posted UEI remote code above), I think you are out of luck for specific codes for the rest. There are just too many possible apps for each to have a code.

Thanks, I have that feeling too. So Macros with a bunch of left and rights and downs seem to be the only option for me. shame as there are only 5 or 6 channels that I watch.

Each app has a number.

There is another approach. It’s a bit clunky, but it can work. On the ROKU Home Screen you can rearrange the app icons. In your program, think of programming the app in terms of what it takes to navigate to a particular icon — for example ‘down 2’, ‘right 2’. Whichever app icon occupying that spot can be executed. It’s not so nice if you change the icon order.

While not possible on IR only remotes, it is possible to fetch the ROKU’s favorite channels and duplicate the channel icon display on the remote’s screen. If the customer shuffles the icon order, the remote will reflect this after the next screen refresh.

That is what I currently do. Edmund implied there was a faster way using UEI codes.

I don’t have a ROKU handy at the moment. This might lead to something useful.
