I take it they smoke a lot of crack in Singapore.

1 SGD=.8201 US dollars

This could explain why you are getting no replies.

You read my mind. Good luck getting the credit card company to rule in your favor on that one.

Then why are you doing it?

I'm not. I'm explaining the situation and the options I'm aware of that the OP may wish to pursue.

Wow, I thought I'd seen it all here.

I do business globally and have sold plenty of product to Singapore. Are all custom installers bigots/racists?

If you're paying more than US$450 SHIPPED for an MX-980, then you're overpaying. I paid less than that from an authorized dealer over two years ago. I'd argue it's not a great value even at that price, but it is what it is.

Don't get your melon twisted...basically it boils down to the fact that there is enough business locally to not have to do credit card transactions with (crooks) customers that are thousands of miles away. You may not run a business that sees attempted fraud regularly. We do and it is ALWAYS "please ship to Singapore, Australia, Nigeria" etc.

do you know what racism is?  saying that i wouldn't ship to a certain country that has has a history of fraudulent buyers has nothing to do with race.

Yes, the US is the center of the world and there aren't any fraudsters on this continent.

Every problem customer I've ever had to deal with in 6+ years has been from the US. Go figure.

Coincidentally, I just made 2 sales this week to Singapore. Australia probably up to a dozen per week.

Thanks to this thread I just dodged a bullet and avoided buying a URC remote system as part of a larger speaker purchase I was making. After reading this thread I asked my authorized retailer if they could provide me with the software, and they said that URC prevented them from doing so.

I then went to a second local retailer and asked them the same thing, and they said that they choose not to give out the software (that the program they make for you is their IP so they choose to protect it and not share it with you.)

I'm all for getting a full service install and having my vendor set it up at first (since I'm also paying them a fortune to fish wires, mount my TV, etc.)-- but I'm not willing to make an investment in equipment that could end up worthless if I am locked out of making changes after changing some of my gear. But that's just my opinion, and I'll vote with my pocketbook.

If Bluedevil is still around... Send me a private message and I'll send you a link to one of the only two reputable dealers I know of and vouch for. They'll take care of you if you still want URC gear.

I hope you also avoided buying speakers from the first dealer since what they told you about the software was an outright lie. The second dealer just seemed scummy.

It may not have been an outright lie.  Many dealers I have spoke to don't realize it is ok to provide the software.

We provide the software if the client asks for it. They ask probably .1% of the time.

On a different note, here's the latest scammer. IP trace to Scottsdale, fake phone# using MagicJack. One of the few crooks that are domestic.

My name is Larry and i am inquiring if i could purchase below items from your company, let me know pricing for the items below and and also advise on availability asap.

Are Arizona residents known to be scammers? MagicJack or other VOIP number doesn't mean "fake" or scammer. I've been using voip exclusively for both home and business land-based telephony since 2003 - not that anyone can tell anyway.

Just tell Larry that everything is available, give him a price and ask when he's interested to come by and pick them up in person and pay in cash.
