Hello everyone.
I have an MX980 that I have used for about one year. I have an issue with it that occurs way too often. Sometimes it locks up. At times it won't accecpt any button presses. Other times it will continually repeat a button press. Both issues requires me to pull the battery out of the remote to restart it.

The worst happened this morning. It kept repeating the "volume up" button! I had to scramble to turn off the receiver before my ears exploded!

The problem has been occuring since day one and I update the software often hoping to correct the issue. Does anyone else have this issue? Any ideas how to correct this issue? It is very annoying for such an expensive remote.

thanks in advance.
Mike

What has URC tech support said? If it's being doing it since day one and that was a year ago I hope you still have warranty. Sounds to me like a bad remote.

The "button" repeat issue I've seen many times, which also includes my mx980. We've been told it has been fixed via firmware, but I can tell you with my remote with an 08 date code I still get them, maybe 1-2 times a month. We've had several clients have this happen as well.

Usually for me at least it's channel up while in the DTV guide but I'v also had volume up "stick" as well. Lately I've been able to get the remote back by hitting channel down until I have control again.

I get an occasional lockup but not frequent enough to cause concern.

I would first try to update the firmware on your remote to see if that helps any.

I hit the "Live Update" button in CCP. Is there something different for updating the firmware? How do I find what version of firmware the remote has?

Anytime you download to your remote and CCP has a newer version of the firmware, it will automatically update your remote. Although depending on the date your remote was made, firmware updates only go so far. My remote was made in 08 and I don't get firmware updates anymore.
