Hi all,

I have a new MX-900 and think it's the best. I think I (mostly) know my way around the editor now, the examples here helped a lot. I'm ready to test my macros, but have a problem. My components are on opposite sides of the room, so I cant try it with IR only as the manual says. I verified my devices work individually, but for macros I'll need to talk to several components at once. Should I just go ahead and try RF? My planned setup is to put the MRF-250 where most of my boxes are and use flashers there if needed, and aim the MRF across the room to the TV to use its front blaster.

Also, I think I've turned up some discrete codes that arent in the IR database. How do you manually set up discrete codes in the editor?

You can do it the long way...download the full config to the remote then test them manually, re-alter the macros as necessary, re-download, etc.


Depends on the format. Which format are they in?

Can I test them normally with my equipment in different places? I thought to use IR for macros I needed to aim the remote in a way that points to everything at once. (For individual devices I can just point at each separately.)


Theyre all 3 digit numbers. A couple of examples:
248 discrete on
247 discrete off

One other thing while I'm here. It sure would be great if I could print out my remote config so I could doodle with it on paper before getting back in the editor. I didnt see a print option anywhere, is there a way to export it to something that can print?

Well, then you'll probably have to hook up the base station(s), set the RF in the editor, do a full download, and then test through RF.

I'm not aware of any printing options. You could make various screenshots if you wanted.

Glad to hear that should work. I think as long as my components check out individually, it should be OK to check macros that way. If there's problems, I'll need to make sure the component is receiving the IR from the MRF250.


Great idea! I should have thought of that.

Any tips about how to enter discrete codes if you only have the 3 digit number? I checked the Universal Browser but it only wants to read in files of learned commands. If the editor cant do it directly, maybe you have to make a fake learned commands file?
