I'm just wondering what brands other people have used for rechargables, and how they work.

I am using Duracell 1000mAh NiMH batteries and I'm getting excellent battery life. You should be able to use any rechargeable, but I would definitely go NiMH and also with 900 or 1000mAh to maximize life per charge.
