My MX950 stopped being able to control the channels on my SA 8300HD cable box. Well not only the one box but both 8300HD's in the house. Not only does my channel up and down button not work withthe 8300HD, but the number pad works sporadically at best.

What could be causing this ? Is there a way to reset the remote to see if it's just a glitch ?

I actually had the exact same problem with my SA 8300HD. I am using RF, so I turned down the range on the RF receiver to minimize interference, and then I turned down the emitter strength, put the signal on a discrete channel, and moved the IR emitter directly over the 8300HD's IR eye. After that the functionality has been great.

I am using IR only. The funny thing is it worked well until a couple of days ago.

Rebooted your 8300HD lately? Bought a new TV or installed a new light bulb in the room? Tried the original remote?

Scientific-Atlanta's cable boxes have been notorious for being sensitive to IR overload, but it's usually only an issue when using IR emitters with gain set too high. If all your other devices are working fine AND the box operates fine with the factory remote, try rebooting the box and see what happens. Another thing you can try is setting the repeat for all associated IR codes from "3" to a lower number in the MX Editor software.

If all else fails, try sticking a piece of electrical tape over the IR receiver area (it's located on the lower left of the box's display window).

What I have done so far.....I have rebooted the 8300, set the signal to IR only. The OEM remote works fine. The MX950 does work fine with everything else. How do I do a reset ?
