Hi All and Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.

Variables. I am new to such an programming solution. I have read the manual and downloaded an rcf from here that explains them, but I am still having trouble getting to grips with them.

I don't need power status following as all my gear has a discrete on/off with the exception of my Pace SKY+ box which has a satisfactory workaround. If my assumptions about power status following are incorrect I would welcome the correction.

Although the 3000 has ample memory, I am trying to make it as efficient as possible. Rather than have mulples of the same page accessed by numerous devices I want to have one lot of, in this case favourites, but have access to them from two devices, BUT for the remote to recognise where the access command came from.

My config is as follows.

My SKY+ box is connected by RF directly to my TV and by S'Video to my TAG processor. In the evenings I tend not to use the system itself prefering to watch SKY+ by RF using the TV only. As and when the need arises I will watch SKY+ through the TAG. In order to achieve this I have one device labelled SKY+ RF and another SKY+ TAG. The only differences between the two devices are the hard keys for volume and mute. When using RF the keys are for the TV and when using the TAG, the keys are for the processor.

Can a variable allow me to have one device for SKY+ and two home buttons. One SKY+ RF and one SKY+ TAG, such that if TAG is selected the remote sees this and changes the hard keys to the processor and vice versa. I might be asking too much here.

Simply put....

If "A" is selected...goto device "SKY" with command set "1"
If "B" is selected...goto device "SKY" with command set "2"

Same goes for Favourites.

Just now I decided to move the six favourite pages I have, into a common device called Misc. 2 sets of 3 pages both the same. One set was within the device "SKY RF" and the other within the device "SKY TAG" . Misc has discretes and some animated gifs in it called from other devices as and when. I have binned the duplicate pages leaving just the three.

Can a variable just as above, allow me to jump from "SKY RF" to Misc/Favourites and jump back to "SKY RF" AND/OR allow me to jump from "SKY TAG" to Misc/Favourites and jump back to "SKY TAG" using just three pages of favourites AND only one hard key.

Simply put...

If "favs" selected from device "SKY RF"... goto "Misc/Favourites"
if "back page" selected from "Misc/Favourites"... goto "SKY RF"

If "favs" selected from device "SKY TAG"... goto "Misc/Favourites"
if "back page" selected from "Misc/Favourites"... goto "SKY TAG"

I hope this makes sense.

Many Thanks

Matt

First off.

Happy New Year to everyone.

Secondly. There are plenty of fok here that know so much about the "ways" of the 3000. Is my request not clear? I will try to rewrite it, if it is not clear enough. Please LMK.

Thanks

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too!

In my opinion, you don't need variables in order to do what you want. It would save time to simply make your favorites pages devices, either as pages under your SKY+ (one for RF and one for TAG), or as devices themselves (one for RF and one for TAG). This way, you have one dedicated to each mode, then you can control the volume for each accordingly by setting the appropriate vol and ch punch through.

Let me know if that works for you.

Thank you,
Damon DG
