I am thinking of upgrading my Sony RM-AX400A to the URC T-1000 remote. Since I will be using this in 1 room only do I have to purchase the RF - IR transmitter like the MRF-260 also? I really don't want to have to hang IR transmitters off of the units I will control. All of the units are Sony.

Thanks in advanced.

The TX-1000 works fine as an IR only control. As long as you remember to always point it in the right direction you'll be fine, but most customers find that not having to point is a real benefit.

Thanks for the info. I am used to pointing at the device I want to control. I have a Sony RM-AX4000 now but it won't control my new Sony Blue Ray Player, a BDP-S560.

By using a MRF not only you don't have to point, but you don't have to point and continue pointing while it spits out your 6-10 step macro. The TX1000 is best suited as a coffee table remote, so put it on the table with a RF receiver, and don't worry about hitting your IR sensors...
