Hi Guys,

I just hit the 1 year mark with my 980. While it's been a great remote, I'm on unit #3. The first unit started to have a 'stuck' button after 6 months of use, and then 3 months later the screen on the replacement went bad. I'm very good with my equipment and certainly don't abuse it at all (in fact, the thing has never been dropped).

I love the remote, but I'm worried about out of warranty replacement costs. Does anyone know the repair costs from URC? I heard it was a $100 flat fee for repairs? That wouldn't be too bad if that was the case...

Is looking into an extended warranty worth it? Are they even available?

Just curious what other owners are doing. This is not a cheap remote as you know...

Thanks,

Chris

i don't know about the cost of repair for your remote but, MX-3000 is about flat fee of 300$.

All you need to do is send in the defective remote and they then send you a replacement. I don't know if it's a refurb or not but, that new remote would be under warranty for a year.

They don't do programmming so, if your about to send in your remote, make sure you have the program somewhere.

I hope this info helps you out a bit.

I don't know about extended warranties, but this was my experience when I sent my MX-980 back.

Instead of asking me why my price is high ask the other guys why they are low.

Thanks for the responses so far. I did make sure to backup my remote before sending it in, in fact URC asked if I wanted them to do it which was a nice gesture.

$200 seems like a very reasonable 'flat fee' to repair a defective device, especially if the new unit comes with a warranty.

Can anyone else confirm the $200 fee for the '980?

Many? Really? For going down? In a mushy way?

Sorry, but it was pretty easy.
