I am a remote control newbee. Is there a way to get a URC to start a CD, say. Let it play for 20 minutes, then rewind and play again? Like with an environmental sound track, or the like?

Looks like some URCs have delay or timer steps that can be put into macros. The pronto has a max delay of 32 seconds, but I'm thinking I could put a bunch of those delays together. The Sony RM-AX4000has 8 timers, so I guess I could use that with a macro firing every 20 minutes?

The other possibility is a PDA. It looks like UltraMote may have a "sleep" step, but the documentation on line is very sparse and doesn't mention the "Sleep" function.

Any clues will be greatly appreciated.

not answering your question, but does your cd player have the repeat function? a little more info would help solve your situation.

CD was an example, actually, it is an iPod Hi-Fi, which uses the Apple Remote.

I am trying to emulate a repeat function on a track on the iPod. The iPod Hi-Fi unit is like a stereo boom-box that the iPod plugs into. It adds the remote capability. I would like he remote to rewind the track, set the volume, then play the track. At the end of 20 minutes, I want it to stop play, rewind, set the volume again, and start it playing.

I don't think I can use the auto replay on the ipod on the track because I want to start more than one of these at the same time, and they need to be in sync. I may try it, though, but it seems like it didn't work with auto repeat when we last tried it.

Off the cuff, I think you may be in trouble. It seems like your trying to sync up many of these together. Is the syncing the problem? If so, see if they can be wired together.

What is your application? Retail store? There may be a better solution.

Syncing is not the problem. They sync, but I need to find a way to repeat a macro after a 20 minute increment, even if it means inserting a 20 minute delay and repeating the same macro.

Not sure if a PDA with control software would be a better way to go than to try to find a remote to do this.

More than one iPod at a time? You'll have a devil of a time trying to maintain sync. But as long as the audio areas don't overlap it won't be a big deal. But even a few milliseconds of mismatch will be instantly noticeable if you happen to be in listening range of both sources. There's no guarantee that multiple iPods will actually play the same tracks at exactly the same speed.

How about just using a playlist on the iPods?

But what you actually trying to accomplish, there may be another way to approach it.
