Hi guys, I am a new member of this forum and this is my first post. I am so happy that I found this site as it has already given me a lot of great info and tips. My question concerns the use of non-English languages, specifically Japanese, in the editor software.
I installed the Japanese language kit on XP but the only fonts listed in the editor program are English. When I try to edit the text for a button, it allows me to type it in Japanese if I have selected Japanese through Windows, but when I try and save the changes, it just inputs ??? in the text field. I suppose this problem would also apply to all non-Roman scripts. Have any of you managed to edit the text in a non-Roman language? If so, I would be very grateful for any help. I am a complete noob and just bought this controller so my knowledge is very basic.
P.S. the only workaround that I can think of is to uncheck the display text preference and then edit the bitmap button in Photoshop for example and add the Japanese text, save and import back into the editor. This would be a much more tedious and time consuming process than just being able to use Japanese fonts directly in the editor program itself. I am open to any help and suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I can't tell why only some of the system fonts are available within the software, it must only be able to handle certains types of Windows fonts. I personally have about 100 fonts installed and the editor lists a total of about 15 for me.

This is a definite feature-request for us as well. If the editor drew off of all system fonts (as say Crestron VTPro-e software does) then we could do a lot more with dingbats, transport controls, etc. as a lot of the "graphics" that we use are available as fonts. It would also be helpful for places where text ALMOST fits on a button at one size and then is too small to read on another...having a huge number of fonts to draw off can be helpful. Just my 2 cents :)

Can I assume then that no one has been able to install any non-Romanized languages?
Is my only option to just program the mx3000 in English to work with all the various devices and then edit the small bitmap buttons by turning off the display text option, exporting the button to Photoshop and adding the Japanese text, then reimporting that button back into the editor?
Will this cause any slow down in the use of the device or any other problems? Is there any other way besides this option? Has anyone ever come across templates already done in Japanese that I could use?
Sorry to ask all these questions, but I just want to make sure that before I spend all the time editing buttons that it will work and there is not some easier/faster option you guys might know of.

Would the Crestron VTPro-e software work on the URC MX 3000? I know they sell this same remote under a different model number, but assuming I had the Crestron software, could I use it on the MX-3000 to program using Japanese fonts?
