No, it does not bother me in the least that this software is not available to the general public, so if that's your take on this, please go away.

A fellow installer who doesn't do remotes has a client who has replaced a system and wants his MX-700 and MX-800 programmed to control the new components. I looked briefly into this and find I must register and provide the serial numbers. I intend to show up with the software, and THEN I will be able to read the serial numbers.

Is there a way around this? What's the secret handshake? I suppose someone out there could really irritate the DIYer and just send me the software, since I'm a dealer and all....
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Thanks for your help, guys. It's nice to know that, in a pinch, you will have a smartass remark. After all, that's the topmost thing to which I aspire in every post. And I very often succeed!

I'd more than welcome being annoyed ... unfortunately, I could only help with the CCP family (900 and up) and the 810.

Unless the client is Stevie Wonder, why can't they read you the serial numbers over the phone so you can:
1. Register
2. Provide serial numbers
3. Download software
4. Make profit

I am guessing he is a DIY'er who is pretending to be a CI. Thats the only way to explain why he cant get those serial numbers read to him over the phone. Good catch David!

He is very sneaky.. thousands of posts over a several year period was all part of his plan :).

I just tried it with a made up serial number and downloaded the 800 software.

I will help you if nobody else will.

Not mocking you but since you just posted how to obtain the SW, why would he wait for your email instead of doing exactly what you've already described...?

Thank you all for all the attitude, humor, and cetera. Someone, some two, actually, made it available to me, and added that the MX850 software will program those two remotes, too.

I'm doing the programming for my buddy, who is no longer on site. He's doing work for a guy who bought everything himself and "just wanted it hooked up." If we make any money at all on this guy, it will be surprising, even more so if we do it without any arguments about how to do things.

Actually, I was writing all of those posts waiting for some reason for it all to come along. I'm glad this one did...

Thanks, 39! I LOVE laughing out loud!

Which I did to this:

What do you do when a blond throws a pin at you?

RUN! She's got a grenade in her mouth!

That took me a sec to figure out...lol. Until I read "in her mouth" and knew instantly what you were speaking of. I don't know if it's a U.S. / Canada spelling thing but we spell "blond" with an "e" at the end.
