Correct, the Wii remote use BlueTooth for all it's commands to the Wii. What looks like an IR transmitter on the front is actually an IR receiver. The "sensor bar" connected to the Wii has IR LED's at each end that the remote uses to triangulate on to determine where it is pointed at the screen (including rotation).
