I'm curious to hear how the rest of you are managing to build a power up/ power down macro sequence when working with TV's that do not have discreet power commands.

For example, I'm working on a system where an HP MD5880n does not respond to Power_ON discreet IR Command. However, IF you send it a toggle power command, the set powers up, then all other (input, aspect ratio, etc) discreet commands work. I have also noticed that it does respond to the Discreet Power_off Command.

According to HP's CI Channel Support Line, the discreet code table 'may or may not' work on some models and what's most interesting is that the darn set has a serial COM port but HP does not release the RS232 Protocol and furtermore the same CS agent at HP claims that HP does not support serial communications for this device.

HP posts a table of discreet codes, however, they do not seem to be complete HEX codes.

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
