Hey guys,

I think I have tryed everything. New remote. new software. All new cables
different ports, reboot. remote reset and still no communication. Any thoughts?

Can't upload either. This is a remote I program everyday and have never
had this much of a problem.

Thanks, Mark

All of the other suites work fine 3000,980 etc

Make sure you've done a "Live Update" to the MX-850 software or it won't work with the current remotes.

Comet, I was kind of having the same problem. Why in your last post did you say, "Bad USB-Serial software?"

I'm also having a serial port problem with a month-old MX-850. It's worked fine up until today, I did one download to the remote with no problems, made a change, saved the file, and from then on I get an error code 102-17UU-0000. I've tried restarting the software, rebooting the computer, reinstalling the software, plugging and unplugging the cable. Any other suggestions that I can try?

How does one do this 'Live Update' of the software mentioned earlier?

One "feature" of the 800/850 is they will frequently fail if you unplug them from the programming cable and then replug and attempt to do something new. I'd unplug, turn off laptop, replug and then reboot. Then: I'd start with a factory init via press and hold MAIN and STOP for a good 10 seconds and then select ALL. Make sure you have a backup copy on the laptop obviously.

Live update is via Help:LiveUpdate or the Dish Button on the top right of the task bar. If you have a limited use version you won't be able to update. See here for the reason:

You also need to ensure your communication settings match your hardware port settings.

Gary I am using a Radio-Shack cable and it came with software which
became corupt. I removed the software and re-installed it and its fine..

Odd thing is, now my Com port is 4 and I allways use 3 and no other ports
will work.

Pagali Are you a dealer? If so press the Sat icon on the upper right
of the programming screen.
