I was wondering if someone could give me some advice on doing what I believe is an advanced macro. I currently have 3 devices I need create a macro for to say, watch a DVD. The first step is to turn on my Mitsubishi TV and change the input to DVD. From there I need to Turn on my Denon 2803, set the input and stereo function. The final step is to turn on my Samsung DVD player and select the DVD (combo unit).

Probably sounds fairly simple, but I'm having a hard time, being a computer programmer, understanding how the remote will know to increase the volume to go to my Stereo instead of the TV. Or if I say fast forward, go to the DVD.

Is there a good demo out there to help me understand the logic I must enter to accomplish these tasks? Thanks!

Actually what you want to do is what these units are designed to do and are quite easy to program once you understand the basics. I suggest you download and peruse the MX-700 tutorial from the files section of this forum as a start; same programming techniques as your MX-850. Also in the files section you will find many mxf & mxd files of systems/devices programmed by others and submitted to the forum for use by the members. Good luck & enjoy.

None of that is macros. It's all punch throughs. I'd second reading the tutorial or the programming manual. It explains it well and is quite easy to do.

TV --------> on
Denon -----> on
Samsung ---> on
TV ---------> dvd
Denon ------>dvd (and any sound adjustments)
Samsung ---> dvd
goto --------> pg1 of dvd

Use "volume punch through" to have the volume controlled by the Denon while in "dvd mode". You also might have to put a pause in there depending on how quick the Mits and Denon can take an input command after being powered on.

You may find reading my review of the MX-700 helpful... it sort of goes through all the basics of what the software does.

mine would prolly look like this:

denon on
1.0 delay
tv on
1.5 delay
dvd play ( or on if discreet is available )
1.7 delay
denon dvd
1.0 delay
tv comp1 ( or whatever your input is )
jump to dvd page

with denon, you want to give it at least 3.5 seconds to turn on before issuing another command, such as switching and input.

mitsu tv's need a moment as well, when switching inputs, allow the lamp to turn on before giving an input command. I'm assuming it's a dlp?..

just my 2c
