I have an activity called to watch Sat TV.

It turns everything on correctly and everything is on the correct input.

The HR21 is the control device.
The volume/mute is controlling the correct HTIB.

In other words...everything works properly...almost.

The problem is with the Record button.

When I'm in the activity it doesn't work. However, if I'm on the HR20 device the Record button works fine.

I tried clearing the remote and reinstalling everything, twice. The same result each time.

I tried to delete the HR20 and the activity, saving the configuration, exiting the the wizard.

I started the wizard, downloaded to the remote. It went correctly and only the two devices were present and no activities.

I setup for the HR20 and the activity and the same result. The Record button doesn't work in the activity but does in the HR20 device.

All the other HR20 buttons work correctly.

Why would everything be fine except that one button?

You might try investigating in the Browser. Select Activities and double click on your DirecTV activity. Find record and see what it says.

You can always hack it by deleting whatever is currently assigned to the button. Then click Browse in the lower left corner and open the WZR file you are working on. Find the command you need and drag it from the Imported box to the MX-810 Action List.

With the new DirecTV DVR's I always just copy/paste the R button from the lcd to the REC button on the remote. Same with the Jump buttons to the skip hard buttons on the remote.

The record button works if I have the HR20 device selected.

The only time it doesn't work is when I'm in the activity. It's the only button that doesn't.

What is different between the device and the activity?

You create your devices first, then you create your activities. When you create your activities, the 810 copies the device page. If you make a change to your device after you create your activity, that change won't make it to the activity.

For example, if you create an HR20 device, an HR20 activity next, and then change the record button on the device, that change won't make it to the activity. You need to change the device before you setup your activity.

Ok, then it does what I thought.

If I start from scratch with no HR20 and activities and create both I still get no record button in the activity but it works in the device.

Why would only one button not be carried over?

I'll try to create an whole new configuration from scratch and clear the remote and see what that does.

All the buttons in the "Activity" page are only Alias'es pointing to the button with actual code stored in it.... sometimes the software points to a blank button or no button at all.... doesnt happen very much but there is a fast and easy fix.... go to the "tune Up" menu then go to the "Copy a command from a device and paste ity into another Device or Activitey"... then select the Device with the button you wish to copy... highlight it then press the "copy" button... next use the drop down menu again to select the activity with the button in question.... highlight it and press paste... there you go.. you should now have a correct Alias for that button.... this is all assuming that the button in the actual device works.. but as you said it does.... this should fix your problem
